The Bold Move is Really Simple |
It's hard to leave a chair you've grown familiar with. The reason for that is security. Like the chair, your job is your security, only on a much larger scale. This is the reason why there are plenty of dissatisfied workers sitting at their desks right now. What is it you really want to do? Is it worth the rest of your life to allow yourself to be stuck here? Picture yourself standing blindfolded under a spotlight with blackness surrounding you. Better yet, close your eyes and you are standing and blindfolded under the spotlight with darkness all around.
If you step forward? Is there a floor to stand on?
What if you step back? Or left or right?
What if you woke up standing and blindfolded? Would you be able to take a step if you felt the wind around you at the same time smelling the salty tang and hearing the undulating water of the sea? Very hard becasue what you are standing on is your security.
That is how hard it would be to just up and leave a job you don't really like because, well, it's familliar, it's what you know, you've been doing it a lot of times, it's become a habit and well, just because. The just because part is security talking.
Now think, really think, what will happen to you if you quit the job you have right now to find the job you like? Will the world fall away from you? Will you continue to be alive and finally doing something you want? Which do you think will happen? Some wise person said, "Better late than never". C'mon how easy is it? You don't need to "take the plunge" as some people phrase it. You just have to take a step. How easy is it to let go? Afraid? Why? Afraid to run out of money? Are you gonna let that happen to yourself? Because you are in control. You control your fear. If you allow your fear to rule you, you'll never get anything done.
The bold move, the big plunge or whatever you choose to call it, isn't bold or big. It's just a step; and the rest of the world is wating for you. To read more articles by Tony Robinson, check out http://better-fitness-info.com.
