All About Advertising - The Job
Advertising is often seen as glamorous. After all, they trot around with some high priced models and , in some cases, famous Holywood artists. Most think that the glamour of artists and models rub off on those who are with them. Something that is really very far from the truth.

There are no specific degrees required. Unlike a doctor or a lawyer, an individual with a career in advertising comes from all walks of life. Most of them are workers changing careers or people just wanting to try it out and see if it's really glamorous.

Befor beginning a career in advertising, it is important to know if it is really what you want to do. There will be long work hours in extremely difficult locations. To start with, the pay is far from wonderful. Eventually, if you persevere and remain determined, you'll make it to the big bucks. Before they do, most people find out that building a career in advertising was a wrong choice for them. Creative people submit their applications to advertising companies in droves; somehow thinking that the company will pay them for their ability in creativity, which happens to be a naive view. Companies are put up to make money. If you are better at cleaning up than drawing a skit for the company, they will probably re-asign you to a more suitable position. It's all about efficiency. Take heart. A career in advertising is rewarding. Just make sure it is what you want.

If it's the glamour you are after, please, spare the craft. If you are of the artiste type, it would be better for you to try perfecting your technique so you can start your first exhibition as soon as possible.

Advertising is not glamorous, neither is it artsy. It's a lot of pain, hard work, determination and needs a lot of energy to meet deadlines. If you're faint of heart, this isn't for you.
